They have a boat that they take out on the Columbia River and we enjoyed 2 days on the boat. We soon learned that Cooper was in Penni's seat and she wasn't very happy about it. She would get down and go somewhere else and then come back and try to sit on his legs with Cooper yelling, "Penni". She did this over and over and finally they made peace with each other.
The river is fed by snow run off from the mountains so warm would not be a good word to describe the water temp. After we rode a little ways we stopped so the boys could jump off the back of the boat. Chuck went first and came up sputtering, but did a good job of hiding it from the boys. Carson was hesitant and as he was trying to decide if he wanted to jump, Cooper jumped in next to him. Cooper came up crying and of course this made us all laugh. We pulled him up on the boat and calmed him down. Then Carson decided he was going to jump...so he did...and he came up crying..which made us all laugh even more. We didn't swim a lot, but we enjoyed being in the boat and behind the boat.
We decided to get 1 of the tubes going so it only made sense for the 3 that were already wet to go first. While we do a lot of tubing during the summer we hadn't ridden on tubes like these so we didn't know what to expect, but we soon found out they are A LOT of fun!
They were having so much fun that we decided to blow up the other tube so more people could get in on the fun. Here are Grandma and Grandpa with the 4 grandkids.
The law in WA is that when there is a person in the water someone in the boat has to hold up an orange flag. We only had 1 person fall, but Cooper loved being on flag duty and he was ready in case anyone else went down.
Carson tried to ski and still can't get it, but he keeps trying.
After we took a break for lunch we headed back out on the water. We had both tubes out and we had a BLAST. We realized that Kayla and Jess were on the tubes for 2 hours straight with the rest of us taking turns as we needed breaks.
The tube on the left in the picture above would bounce a lot when it was outside the wake...Jess, Chuck & I really liked that. The other tube did not bounce much at all if it was inside the wake...Kayla and Grandpa really liked that. So Becky was able to keep one tube in the wake and one just outside the wake and she kept us all happy and we rode for a long time.
After Cooper woke up from his nap in the boat on Grandma's lap he was ready to ride again so we added him to the "calm" tube and took off again.
On our second day on the river Kayla & Jess decided not to come so we just used 1 tube and had lots of fun again.
Most of us took a turn skiing. Chuck doesn't ski very often so when he does we make sure to get a picture. He did a great job and popped right up just like a pro.

Their dog is so funny...she loves to chase a ball and at first when she is full of energy she will run around and bark to get someone to throw the ball out into the water. This time she would not drop her ball though because she was getting tired and was shivering from the cold water. She would turn her head the opposite way away from my Dad as he walked up to her.
