the wave got him
I'm not sure what Cooper was looking for, but he was looking up the shore line instead of out to sea.
One day we went at low tide and looked around in the tide pools. These are rocks that are quite far out and are only uncovered by low tide. Sometimes there are sea creatures still in among the rocks and the are easy to see. We found anemone and hermit crabs.
These are a bunch of small anemone and the shells get stuck to them. The picture below is a big one and if you stepped on it, it would start to suction to your foot. I would always quickly step some place else.
